Longevity is complicated.

How We're Getting On

Everyone in your audience is aging; almost no one is planning for it.

Book Me

Each of the dilemmas posed by an aging population are opportunities in disguise. Mark will show you how to 'flip' the script, turning the greatest demographic shift in modern history to your advantage.

Keynote or workshop on the three gaps nobody is planning for: healthspan to lifespan (Australia's is 12.1 years, second-worst, just behind the United States), finspan to lifespan (retire before 60, fund four more decades), and the workforce chasm in organisations (gerontocracy at the top, forced exits at the bottom).

Mark offers three lenses each with unique opportunities: the personal - how aging affects us as individuals; the organisational - how orgs adapt to the massive shift in workforces; and the policy - getting the settings right to make this transition both easy and welcome.

Who it's for

Superannuation and retirement industry, financial services, life and health insurers, aged care, wealth and advice, HR and workforce planners, government.

What happens in the room

Mark begins with a direct question: how long do you expect to live? From there, the room moves between two lenses. The magnifying glass brings longevity down to the personal realities of lifespan, healthspan, retirement and financial security. The telescope reveals what those same changes mean when they happen across an entire workforce, economy and culture.

The session is participatory, with questions and reflections invited throughout. Mark uses current evidence to expose the gaps between lifespan and healthspan, between lifespan and finspan, and between longer lives and organisations still designed around shorter careers. He then turns the risks into action, exploring how staying active, connected and contributing depends on better personal choices, organisational support and public policy.

What they walk out with

  • A clearer view of their own longevity assumptions and the personal implications of living and funding a much longer life.
  • A framework for understanding the healthspan, finspan and workforce gaps at both individual and whole-of-society scale.
  • Practical questions for redesigning retirement, careers and organisational support so people can remain active, connected and contributing.
  • A map of the new processes, services and product categories that an aging population will require.
